The safe stranger chat checklist

• You're in a private space — no one can walk in behind you.
• Nothing identifying is in frame: mail, ID cards, bank cards, screens, house numbers.
• You're wearing what you'd be comfortable being seen in by a stranger.
• You've done a quick camera check (angle, lighting, mic).
• You have a drink and a time limit in mind — decide before you start how long you'll stay.
• You know where the block and report buttons are before you need them.

1. It demands payment to talk normally — charging you to do basic things other sites give free.
2. No visible block or report buttons — you should never have to search for the exit.
3. It pushes you to install a plugin, extension, or "app" — browsers can do video chat without downloads.
4. It wants your video, contacts, or socials before you've even chatted — that's not normal.
5. No visible safety policy or moderation. A legit site can show you its rules (ours are here).

• They're recording you or screenshotting without your OK.
• They pressure you for personal info: real name, address, school, workplace, bank, passwords.
• They push sexual content you didn't ask for.
• They ask for money, gift cards, or crypto.
• They threaten you, or threaten to share anything.

Rule of thumb: if a conversation makes you uncomfortable, you don't owe anyone an explanation. Hit Next, then Block, then Report — in that order.

2. Block — you'll never be matched with them again.
3. Report — a real moderator can review and ban repeat offenders.
