This Privacy Policy explains what Strangr collects, why we collect it, and what we never do with it. Short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a free, anonymous video chat — and we never sell your personal data.
The one-line summary: Strangr is anonymous by design. You don't need an account to chat. We don't store your video calls, and we don't sell or rent any of your information.
1. What we collect
- Profile info you give us: if you sign in, we store the display name, age, and gender you provide.
- Contact info: your email address, only if you create a registered account or contact support.
- Approximate location: a rough country/region estimate derived from your IP address (used to match you with people who speak your language and to keep the platform safe). We never show your exact address or coordinates.
- Session analytics: anonymous counts like time on site and number of chats started, so we can improve the product.
2. What we do NOT collect
- We do not record or store your video or text chats. Calls are peer-to-peer where possible — your video goes directly to the person you're talking to, not through our servers.
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to advertisers or anyone else.
- We do not build a permanent profile of your conversations or interests.
3. Cookies & analytics
Strangr uses a small number of cookies and analytics tags (including Google Analytics) to understand basic traffic and improve the experience. These track aggregate usage — not your chat content. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings without losing any core functionality.
4. Third-party services
Strangr relies on a few trusted third parties to operate. Each receives only the data needed to provide its specific service:
- Infrastructure & hosting: stores the minimal profile data described above.
- Payments: if you buy tokens or gifts, payment is processed by a third-party payment provider (e.g. PayPal/Stripe). We never see or store your full card details.
- Location lookup: converts an IP address into an approximate region for matching purposes. Only a coarse region is retained.
- Analytics: aggregate, non-identifying usage statistics.
These providers process data under their own policies and are bound by data-processing agreements.
5. Moderation & safety
To keep Strangr safe and 18+, automated systems and human review may examine interactions for policy violations. If you are reported, limited context around the report may be reviewed. We do not monitor live video streams for entertainment — only for safety.
Important: Strangr is a public platform. Other users may record, screenshot, or share video or chat content without your knowledge. Treat every conversation like it's public — never share your full name, address, phone number, or bank details.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and similar laws), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability

7. Data retention
Profile data is kept while your account is active and deleted if you request removal. Analytics are retained in aggregate form only. We do not keep logs of your individual chats.
8. Children
18+ only. Strangr is not directed at, and does not knowingly collect data from, anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, their account is banned and their data deleted.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when it changed. Continued use of Strangr after changes means you accept the updated policy.
